Daily AcreetionOS Update - August 10, 2026
Dear AcreetionOS community,
We're excited to share the latest developments and updates from the AcreetionOS project. As we continue to work towards our goal of creating a user-friendly, privacy-focused Linux distribution based on Arch Linux, we're grateful for the support and contributions from our community.
In recent news, the Software Stewardship Lab, a nonprofit organization based in Scotland, has launched. This initiative aims to promote software stewardship and responsible software development practices. We're excited to see the impact this will have on the open-source community and look forward to collaborating with them in the future.
On the development front, we've seen some exciting activity in the past week. The kernel prepatch 7.2-rc7 is now available for testing, and we've also received four weekend stable kernel updates, including 7.1.8, 6.18.44, and 5.19.12. These updates bring various bug fixes and improvements to the kernel, ensuring a more stable and secure experience for our users.
In the AcreetionOS codebase, we've seen some new commits from Natalie, including the initial commit for the Linux App Drawer and the application menu search. These features will enhance the user experience and make it easier to navigate the system.
Meanwhile, cobra3282000 has been working on resolving a geocode-glib update conflict in the AcreetionOS codebase. This is an important fix that will ensure our distribution remains stable and up-to-date.
We're also pleased to announce that the AcreetionOS GitLab instance is now live, providing a platform for community members to collaborate and contribute to the project. We encourage everyone to join the conversation and share their ideas and feedback.
