Daily AcreetionOS Update -- August 11, 2026
Daily AcreetionOS Update - August 11, 2026 Hello AcreetionOS community, here's your daily snapshot of progress and news.
This week we merged several key fixes, including the 'repair' branch that resolves a geocode‑glib conflict across the main and xlibre repositories. The initial commits in the Linux_App_Drawer and application_menu_search modules also mark new beginnings for feature development.
The 7.2‑rc7 kernel prepatch is now available for testing, bringing numerous driver and scheduler improvements while staying within upstream expectations. Meanwhile, Django has announced a shift to an annual release cycle, simplifying version management for Python web projects built on the platform.
Security updates were released by AlmaLinux for Firefox, gpsd‑minimal, kernel, libarchive, libgcrypt and LibRaw, and by Debian for bind9, ca‑certificates, Chromium and dnsdi. These patches help keep our distribution secure against the latest known vulnerabilities.
Our Discord server remains active with contributors discussing hypervisor choices, ISO testing, and sharing custom themes. GitLab activity shows Darren and Natalie regularly pushing updates and responding to issues, reinforcing the project’s collaborative spirit.
The two‑person development team, Darren and Natalie, continue to balance deep system work with user‑focused polish, ensuring AcreetionOS stays both powerful and approachable. Their complementary skills — Darren’s expertise in installer and CI pipelines, and Natalie’s focus on UI and documentation — create a well‑rounded development environment.
If you’re testing OS ISOs, try the hyperpick tool to select the most suitable hypervisor for your hardware and workload. It can save time and reduce errors when preparing virtual machines for installation.
AcreetionOS’s Cinnamon desktop now includes refined touchpad gestures and improved power management, delivering a smoother experience on low‑resource machines. These enhancements reflect community feedback and help maintain the distro’s reputation for efficiency.
Thank you for staying engaged with AcreetionOS; your feedback drives our next releases. Feel free to share suggestions on Discord or via the GitLab issue tracker, and we’ll keep you updated with daily snapshots.
